In any organization, the financial model is often featured as a central aspect of the planning and control systems utilized by the organization. Regardless of the organization’s size or complexity, or the product, the market or the service provided, a budget as a model has been featured as a key aspect of financial planning.
Many users may not be proficient with the advanced features of Excel that are suited to accommodate the budgeting and forecasting processes. This hands-on Excel programme focuses on helping managers solve the problems they face when preparing and presenting budgetary models and forecasts. It combines basic accounting, budgeting and forecasting underpinning knowledge with Excel to provide managers with practical guidance on how to prepare more accurate budgets and forecasts with less time and effort. By combining both traditional budgeting and forecasting concepts with the power and flexibility of Excel, participants are given the tools and techniques they need to meet the ever increasing demands of banks, regulators, and investors.
This programme is designed for Professionals who have already done some work with Excel to prepare reports in financial models, budgets and forecasting and wish to further improve their use of Excel to save time, do a better job, and to comply with the best spreadsheet practices.

This is a 2-days intensive programme where participants will get to apply their knowledge with hands-on exercises, guided by the Trainer. Participants are required to bring along their laptops , equipped with Excel 2010 and above full installations. Participants should have basic knowledge of Excel.
Participants' laptops should ideally be internet-enabled as some exercises will require online access. Participants without internet access will still be provided with connected files to benefit from the session.
Dr Lim Thou Tin
Dr Lim is a business graduate from the NUS. He holds double masters in information systems and knowledge management with further postgraduate qualifications in systems analysis, intelligent systems, marketing, management consulting and training. He has a doctor of business administration from Southern Cross University with current research interests in information systems and business modelling. He is also a certified business intelligence professional with specialisation in business analytics.
Dr Lim’s work experience includes working in large Singapore companies to MNCs in senior corporate, IT and project management positions. As a management consultant and practitioner, he has facilitated organizational initiatives / projects over a span of more than 15 years in the Asia-Pacific region, including Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Mauritius, China, India, Indonesia and Thailand.
Dr Lim continues to be involved in senior management education at local tertiary institutions, teaching information and accounting topics at degree and postgraduate level with research and publishing interests in knowledge management and business intelligence.
